2021-04-23 A Toronto north loop ride

April 23rd I enjoyed a 127km ride on a Toronto north loop I created with RideWithGPS using off-road paths and trails where possible. To stay safe during Covid I took four bottles of water with me so that I wouldn’t have to stop at any store along the way. Wish I had taken more water (or water purifier tablets or filter) as I was out longer than planned, due to having to reroute when mapped trails disappeared — I discovered that RWG’s “heatmap” of other people’s rides does not always indicate that a trail still exists.

This blog has my route, photos of my bike, a route highlights video, and some photos along the route.

Here’s my ride https://ridewithgps.com/trips/65992089.

Here’s my Trek Procaliber that I used for this ride as I can carry four bottles of water. Missing is the handlebar rollbag used for bikepacking. It has a SON dynamo hub powering kLite Bikepacking Pro light and Cube flashers front and back. I charge my phone and Garmin 1030 Edge+ with either the dynamo or battery packs. The GoPro Hero 9 mount maybe replaced soon with a 360 degree mount.

During the ride I took some video with my new GoPro Hero 9 (which I’ll review in a future blog). Then at home I used HitFilm Express (which is great free software) to create the following 19 minutes trip video.
