Congratulations to @Kourosh Alasvand on finishing the Randonneurs Ontario’s The Great Grimsby Gambit 609k brevet on June 15-16 in 39 hours (of the 40 hour limit). Monday June 15th we rode the first 354k loop with most of the route climbing in the first half and into brutal headwind, followed thankfully by mostly downhill and tailwind. At the hotel we had a quick shower and maybe 3-4 hours sleep. Day 2 started with a 100m climb at 8% average up to 18%! Once we turned west it was into brutal headwind. I rode with Kourosh until 461k at Dunnville (bottom of the T shaped second loop) before bad Achilles tendon pain and numb hands made me decide to abandon the remaining ~148k into more brutal headwind, or a 42km short ride back to the hotel, for ~500k total. Kourosh was kind to say that I was his domestique helping break the headwind…it was my pleasure riding with you Kourosh!

Thanks to Italo Bravo for loaning me his road bike…it was a sweet ride! Thanks to @Enlesce for their amazingly comfortable bib shorts, and their equally fine jersey, undershirt, and socks! Thanks to Posedla for their super comfortable custom 3D printed Joyseat!
